Tzeyi Koay (🔊 Zee-Kway) is a Chinese-Malaysian lawyer turned fantasy writer based in Australia. She grew up in a kampung—a small Malaysian village—surrounded by the stories and traditions that would later inspire her work. Her stories draw on Chinese culture and mythology, as well as by her family’s practice of Chinese folk religion—a blend of Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian teachings.

 

Tzeyi studied Psychology and Politics & International Relations at the University of Melbourne, initially training to be a psychologist before earning her Juris Doctor. When she isn't writing, Tzeyi can be found nurturing her ever-growing collection of books and plants, including a terrarium built from a repurposed cabinet.​
